Walmart / Sam’s Club Stores
Kimley-Horn completed full civil design services for Walmart and Sam’s Club sites in several locations across the United States.
Our services included paving, grading and drainage plans, water and sanitary utilities, permitting, stormwater management, and preparation of stormwater pollution prevention plans. Kimley-Horn also prepared traffic impact studies for many of the proposed locations, as well as additional out parcels located on the same site. The studies included an analysis of the existing transportation network, vehicle queuing, access to and from the site, and internal site circulation
Kimley-Horn was also the lead consultant for two experimental Walmart stores in Aurora, CO and McKinney, TX. These projects have become strong examples of green building, requiring less energy and natural resources to operate and maintain, and fewer raw materials to construct. Kimley-Horn’s team was integral to developing creative solutions to meet sustainable goals for these sites, while working to achieve Walmart’s project and operational goals. For these stores, our services included site location/infrastructure analysis, coordination and analysis, site/master planning, erosion/sedimentation control, paving, grading and utility design, sustainable sitework materials analysis and design, permitting and coordination with local jurisdictions, and construction administrative services.
