Goals South Gate Soccer Center
The British-based chain of recreational facilities is expanding into Los Angeles as the first U.S. market for their Goals Soccer Centers, and Kimley-Horn was selected to provide civil engineering services for the new facility.
The 5.5-acre parcel where the new center resides was occupied by surface parking lots and landscape/dirt areas. The expansion included construction of a 8,500 sq. ft. one-story center pavilion with locker rooms, a restaurant, meeting room, store, and lounge. The outside areas include ten 5-a-side soccer fields, one 7-a-side soccer field, batting cages, and additional surface parking. The project is located on the northeast corner of South Gate Recreational Park near the intersection of Pinehurst Avenue and Southern Avenue in South Gate, California.
Our services included entitlements, construction documents, site demolition plans, utility design, grading and drainage, SUSMP and SWPPP, erosion control, planting and irrigation design, and construction administration. Special project challenges included a field turf under drain system, a site plan that protected existing perimeter trees, and extensive utility coordination.
