What started as an idea for a luxury, high rise office and residential space, flourished into one of the hottest new entertainment attractions in Las Vegas. AREA15, a one-of-a-kind counterculture entertainment venue, includes mind-bending art exhibits, outlandish rides, and bizarre dining and beverage options.
Kimley-Horn was brought into the initial design phase for AREA15 by Fisher Brothers to help bring their immersive art experience to life. Creativity and flexibility were vital for our team, working closely with the client and the project team to uniquely plan the site to meet their evolving vision and aggressive deadline for completion. Innovative site additions expand into the parking lot, including a dilapidated airplane, a 30-foot-tall robot, and additional outdoor art installations.
Throughout the project’s timeline, Kimley-Horn provided the following services:
As AREA15 continues to expand, Kimley-Horn remains on the front line aiding the Client with their ever-changing master plan. Our team continues to work on multiple new projects in support of the initial site, while helping the Client expand to new development areas. Due to the unique history of the development, our design team closely coordinated with the State, the City, the County, and other agency stakeholders to meet the demands of the jurisdictions.
Currently, the team is working on the creation of a new immersive entertainment venue, Illuminarium, which is scheduled to open within the next few months as well as a new, and a new ride which will open early in 2022. Implementing this ride requires direct coordination with a manufacturing group in France.
Kimley-Horn remains heavily involved as the project continues to grow and is now in the early stages design coordination for additional buildings on the main campus and new developments within the adjacent area in Las Vegas, and supporting the Client with their development in Orlando, FL.
“AREA15 has been a really fun project to work on. With its evolving nature, it presented many unique challenges that I am proud of our team for remaining diligent and flexible to develop solutions that best served our client. I recommend anyone traveling to Las Vegas to pay AREA15 a visit. There is nothing else quite like it.”
