WEF’s Words on Water Podcast: Developing a Security Master Plan with Tanya Miro
Water/wastewater expert Tanya Miro was featured on the Water Environment Federation’s (WEF) Words on Water podcast alongside Chad Kopecki, a senior engineer for Dallas Water Utilities. WEF’s podcast spotlights the people who are leading the way in identifying solutions to the industry’s emerging issues—for instance, helping guard utility infrastructure from cyberattacks and other security incidents through strategic planning.
To prioritize resilient utility systems, Dallas Water Utilities partnered with Kimley-Horn to create a 10-year visionary security master plan. On the Words on Water podcast, Tanya and Chad discuss the development of the security plan, from cybersecurity considerations to physical elements like access control systems and surveillance cameras. They also discuss best practices uncovered during the process and how enhanced security can address widespread risk concerns throughout the water/wastewater industry.
