Multidisciplinary Roadway Specialist Featured in Woman Engineer
Civil and transportation engineer Nicole Dias, PE, is featured in Woman Engineer—a magazine that promotes women in the engineering field through content on professional development, industry updates, and more. In her feature, Nicole discusses her career at Kimley-Horn, highlighting her work in multidisciplinary roadway and active transportation design and specifically focusing on her passion for working with public agencies and communities to create more accessible and equitable spaces for all.
Nicole’s dedication to community-driven work is exemplified in the Broadway-Manchester Active Transportation Equity project. As the design and management lead, Nicole works with other Kimley-Horn partners to create corridors that support multimodal transportation and increase safety, sustainability, and equitable access for the Los Angeles community.
Nicole has supported the growth of Kimley-Horn’s Los Angeles office from 12 to nearly 100 employees in less than a decade. She is also dedicated to educating and empowering women within the transportation industry through her involvement in the Women’s Transportation Seminar International organization. Her advice for young engineers is to never be afraid to ask questions—because asking the right questions leads to a more holistic project vision and better solutions to challenges.

Nicole has been supporting the design of multidisciplinary roadway and transit projects across Southern California for more than a decade—from local roadway improvements to major interchange projects. She has delivered a variety of project services, including feasibility studies, final design, and construction phase services, and her specialty areas are street improvement design, utility design, grading, and transit feasibility studies.
