A landscape architecture analyst at Kimley-Horn, Clare Kiboko was awarded the WxLA 2024 Scholarship, which offers recipients expenses-paid admission to this year’s American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Conference on Landscape Architecture. WxLA scholarships support junior and mid-level women in the landscape architecture industry as they pursue educational and networking opportunities.
Driven by a desire to provide universal accessibility to green, open spaces that help people connect with themselves and others, Clare is passionate about developing her community in the Twin Cities. She primarily focuses on landscape architecture within private urban development and multifamily housing spaces. Clare has provided support and production services for a variety of diverse clients while navigating the challenges that surround commercial, municipal, higher education, and historic sites.
In 2024, Essince Smith was awarded the ASLA Council of Fellows Scholarship, an award given to stand-out students to support their landscape architecture education. With their annual scholarships, ASLA is dedicated to increasing diverse representation in landscape architecture and providing financial and networking benefits as well as professional development opportunities to recipients.
Essince is a landscape architecture analyst at Kimley-Horn who is dedicated to helping create restorative spaces for people to engage with nature. Passionate about volunteer work, Essince is involved with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, the Student Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects, and ASLA—where she has coordinated events and helped beautify communities through activities like planting trees and caring for plants.
