Gilbert ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan
Kimley-Horn prepared an ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan for the Town of Gilbert in Arizona which consisted of a review of the Town’s programs, services, and activities.
Evaluated programs, services, and activities included:
- Town departments
- Boards and commissions
- Employment practices
- Emergency management plan
- Website and social media
Town facilities were also evaluated, which included:
- 48 public buildings and their associated parking
- 11 stand-alone parking lots
- 30 signalized intersections
- 12 miles of sidewalk
- 185 unsignalized intersections
- 346 curb ramps
- 147 transit stops
- 26 parks
- 11 Parkway Improvement Districts
Additionally, Kimley-Horn prepared cost estimates to remediate the identified barriers, prioritized the remediation projects, and developed the Town’s ADA Transition Plan.
Our team also provided 18 hours of staff training on the following topics:
- Disability Employment Training for Human Resources Staff and Mangers/Supervisors
- Disability Awareness and ADA Overview for Customer Contact Staff
- An Overview of the 2010 ADA Regulations
- Advanced training on the 2011 Proposed Accessibility Guidelines for Pedestrian Facilities in the Public Right-of-Way (PROWAG), including both classroom and in-field sessions.
The Transition Plan was approved by Gilbert’s Town Council in October 2018.
