XNA Taxiway Design

Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport Authority

Bentonville, AR

Kimley-Horn has held an ongoing engineering services contract with Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport since 2001. Projects have included airfield improvements such as apron expansions and taxiway design. For Taxiway A, Kimley-Horn designed a parallel 8,800-foot taxiway including five connector taxiways to the existing runway. The parallel taxiway is being designed for use as an alternate landing surface to allow for rehabilitation of the airport's single runway. The project includes approximately one million cubic yards of excavation and 135,000 square yards of Portland cement concrete pavement, as well as the design of stormwater collection, airfield electrical and lighting, temporary relocated thresholds, existing electric and natural gas transmission line relocation, and relocation of the airport's perimeter service road.
