Tanglewood Lake Apartments is located on 28 acres in northeast North Carolina. Kimley-Horn was selected to prepare site plan documents for phase I of the development, which included 180 units in 10, three-story apartment buildings, and a clubhouse and pool. Stormwater management was achieved through the use of multiple ponds with wetland benches. Required with the site plan documents were planting plans prepared to the specifications of the Elizabeth City zoning ordinance. Extensive wetland bench plantings were required for site plan approval, as well as street frontage and parking lot landscaping, and screening of mechanical equipment and dumpsters. The majority of the landscape requirements were met through the use of plant materials native to the area.
