Spring Garden Street Streetscape

University of North Carolina, Greensboro

Greensboro, NC

Spring Garden Street evolved from an urban two-lane street to a busy urban corridor that carries significant traffic volumes and is crossed by over 5000 students multiple times daily. The street was renovated to provide safety for pedestrians and those using bicycles, automobiles, and mass transit. Kimley-Horn provided streetscape concepts as well as the full range of design and development services for traffic calming, roadway design, landscape architecture, relocation/burial of utilities, reconstruction of traffic signals at four intersections, and ornamental pavement/sidewalk treatments. This project won an ASLA award as well as an ACEC award for North Carolina.
