The Sacramento Railyards development is a 238-acre infill project that will double the size of downtown Sacramento and turn the area into an urban mecca of mixed-use, residential, commercial, retail, hotel, office, cultural/entertainment, parks, and open space uses, and will include a mass transit hub. Kimley-Horn is responsible for the project management and coordination of all planning and design elements including roadway design, utilities, drainage, streetscape, and storm water quality improvements along each roadway. The firm is also designing MSE retaining walls and overseeing the design of three bridges. The drainage element includes a project stormwater master plan, design of a storm drain and a stormwater pump station, a comprehensive stormwater quality management plan and SWPPP, design of stormwater quality BMPs, and permitting.
