Kimley-Horn designed this 800-space parking structure for UNC-Chapel Hill to meet the needs of University hospital staff. The functional layout of the parking deck was tailored to the sloped site. To avoid rock excavation, the footprint and ramping was designed to minimize deep cuts, balance the cut/fill, and provide efficient entry exit points on multiple levels. The below-grade stormwater system includes sand filters, retention vaults, and a detention vault to strictly manage runoff. Other services included a parking study; environmental assessment; traffic, structural and civil engineering; landscape architecture; and construction-phase support services.
