Kimley-Horn provided a wide range of services in the reconstruction and revitalization of the downtown core of the City of Durham including implementing the first phase of the master plan. Kimley-Horn's services included streetscaping and infrastructure, the two-way conversion of Main and Chapel Hill Streets, the realignment of Corcoran Street, and the creation of a downtown plaza. The firm conducted traffic analyses to ascertain that the two-way conversions were feasible without creating significant traffic congestion and embarked on an extensive public input process to develop a schematic plan for the upgrades, subsequently preparing construction plans for the project. The firm also provided full time construction observation and public involvement.
